Hello, I'm

I am currently a sophmore at FDU and majoring in English Language and Literature with a concentration in Writing and Elementary Education.

This site is all about me and my educational knowledge and background from my experience in Fairleigh Dickinson's Educational QUEST 5-year Masters program.  At this time, the website is under construction and it will be updated soon.  Sorry for the delay and inconvience.

My Reaction

Rubric Reaction

After completing my rubric based in the WebQuests I observed, I feel that my rubric was a good source for grading the sites I visited.  I believe it worked well in establishing whether the WebQuests were reliable, had the right information, and easy for students to follow clear directions.  My Rubric also stated that the WebQuests should have a general goal that they explain to the students in a clear, precise manner.  The highest total score on my Rubric was an 18, but no site received that because I don't believe something can receive a perfect score on the first evaluation because there is always room for improvement, in anything.
If I were to write my Rubric over again and have it be based on WebQuests, I would probably change one thing.  Firstly, I would add another separate category on the generalization of the WebQuest being a reliable source.  In our Action Research books, they discuss in Data Collection the concept of Reliability.  They say, "Reliability concerns the accuracy of your methods of measurement."  This means that all the subsequent information has to produce the same results in order to be deemed reliable.  I would keep the rest of the Rubric practically the same because I feel the categories I provided do a great job assessing the WebQuests.
After reviewing the resources, I learned that none of them can classify as great based upon my Rubric.  I also learned that my Rubric had good categories to score the WebQuests as Excellent, Average, and Weak.  After creating this Rubric I learned that websites on the internet are hard to grade.  There are many websites out there made up by students or people who don't have educational backgrounds, which would be deemed an unreliable source.  Making these Rubrics were hard because you want the Rubric you make to be able to score the websites/WebQuests appropriately, in order to have other teachers and students use it themselves for evaluation.
The WebQuests I observed and evaluated will all be useful to me as a teacher.  If I plan to teach 4-6th graders, these WebQuests can offer an intellectual way to captivate my students interest, while learning the lesson or goal I want them to understand and comprehend.
