Theme: Teachers Professionally Publish & Reflect
A group of teachers 'go to press' and make their personal philosophies and team visions of school change accessible to the general public!
   
Agenda:
4:30-5:30 -- Publishing to The Web (60 min.)
 
5:30-6:00 -- Collegial web reading & edit session (30 min.)
 
6:00-6:30 -- Personal Self-evaluation (30 min.)
 
6:30-7:00 -- Seminar evaluation & closing thoughts (30 min.)
   
Notes:
  • Teachers, please have your 3 philosophy Word document files (the long 20 min. version, the short 10 min. version, and the quick 1 min. version) with you or available for download in one of the following digital forms: 1) uploaded to your EdFolio gems listing; 2) uploaded to CollaborAtrium--an option to use if you are having problems posting to your EdFolio; 3) on a laptop you are bringing; or 4) on some form of portable media such as a CD or USB flash drive.
  • School Faculty Teams, please have your final School Vision documents available as Word document files (they should already be posted on CollaborAtrium).
  • During the session, each of you will take your final Word files and work with easy web layout techniques to publish your polished work in a professional, hyperlinked format on your EdFolio site using the Stories feature and the style and link tools.
 
Professional Development Day Institute

Theme: Understanding Ourselves and the Visions for Our Schools
This institute provides a chance for school faculty to share with others in the district what motivates and drives each and every one of us in our ideas about teaching and share the collegially developed, deeply felt visions for our schools and plans for change and improvement over the coming years.
   
Agenda:
4:30-5:10 -- Organizational Meeting (40 min.)
10 min. break
5:20-6:05 -- Presentation by J. L. Sarah Secondary School (45 min.)
10 min. break
6:15-7:00 -- Presentation by Concordia Elementary School (45 min.)

   
Notes:
The Organizational Meeting period provides time for the faculty of each school to have a final planning session before their presentation, make any last minute adjustments to the format of their 45 min. presentation, and use laptops to print any handouts needed on the fast Xerox Phaser printer.

    and login (use the last part of your Edfolio URL as the username, i.e. the format of last name and first initial, and use your same Edfolio password)
  2. click on "Educational Philosophy" under the Collaborations heading in the upper right
  3. There you will see the link to "The Philosophical Teachers' Cafe"
  4. After you enter you can begin with the "social forum" ... a starter topic is already present related to Popham's book.
  5. And areas have been created for the 2 school faculty teams to trade ideas...
