| Behavior Modification Behavior Modification/Incentive Charts My goal is to
encourage appropriate behavior in my classroom thus maximizing the learning
experience for all of my students. In doing so I will remain consistent in my approach. While maintaining consistency I always ensure the emotional well being of my students. (Having happy students is important to me. Having satisfied and happy parents is also very important to me).
This strategy along with other proposed strategies serve merely as a guideline. Every situation is different and therefore may require a different approach.
Each child in my class will have a
behavior chart. This chart will clearly
state each child's goal. The goal will
be to achieve a desired behavior each month. The goal will be established by me through my
observation of each child. In order to
encourage my students to always do their best I will have a visible 'Warning
Chart" in which I will use popsicle sticks with their names. These sticks will serve as a visual indicator of each student's progress throughout the day. The
three spots will signify a reminder, warning, and no sticker for the day.
At the end of each week, those
students who receive 5 stickers will get a prize (a whole month is too long to wait). Four or less stickers will not receive a
prize. At the end of a month, those
students who receive a sticker for each day of school will get to go to the
"special" prize box and will also receive a certificate to take home.
During the first week of school I will
send a letter home to the families informing them of this system and explaining
to them that in order to maintain consistency and structure within the
classroom I will be following this system (or another system).
