Technology in the Classroom

As technology is becoming ever more present in society it is now increasingly important to integrate it into the classroom.  Some of the ways I can use technology in my classroom are:

Contacting every child's parent in my class can be very time consuming.  To help me save time I will use a mail merge where I can personally create and customize a form letter for various recipients.  By simply entering in all of the student's information at the beginning of the year I can easily create letters to be sent home throughout the school year.

Communication is an important part of bridging the parent/teacher gap.  In my classroom, I plan to send home e-mail newsletters bi-weekly.  These newsletters will inform parents about what is going on in the classroom.  The newsletters will also include important dates, reminders, and up-coming events.

I have created a webliography for parents, students and teachers for educational internet resources.

One way to "break the ice" on the first day of school is to introduce yourself to your students.  I have created a PowerPoint presentation for a second grade class in which I give some general information about myself. Please enjoy!

PowerPoint can be a very useful tool for interactive lessons.  It helps to clearly present material in a new way making the lesson fun and interactive for all.  Please view the lesson I have prepared for a social studies review on the Mid-West States.
