The following is a unit on patterns for kindergarten/first grade students.  The first button links to a multimedia "PowerPoint" that I created to introduce or review the concept of patterns.

The second button links to an interactive game I created using "Flash."  In this game the students click and drag the correct pictures to complete patterns.  This game helps to reinforce the concept of a pattern before the students create their own.

The students finish this unit by creating their own patterns using "Kid Pix."  After opening a template the students used the stamp tool to complete some patterns and create their own.  The third button links to some sample patterns my first grade students created in "Kid Pix" while completing this unit.

This year after completing the patterns unit one of my first graders had the idea to create a quilt in with Kid Pix.  The idea spread to her classmates and they each made one patch of the quilt.  Click the button below to see a picture of this amazing quilt.
