REQUIRED ASSIGNMENTS
This is assignment 1, a synthesis from a scholarly journal. The article I read came from the journal, Language Learning & Technology. The pros and cons of using Skype and Podcasts, in a language learning classroom, were the main area of discussion.
This sign was created in MS Word. It is an example of how I could communicate with new students. The design layout promotes visual literacy to convey the content of my ESL classroom.
This is a sample newsletter created in MS Publisher, for a K-2 English as a Second Language class. I used the school (Orangedale Elementary) in which, I taught third grade. It was located in Phoenix, AZ. I kept each section short, bearing in mind, that the parents would most likely have limited English proficiency.
This is a gradebook, which we learned how to create in class, using Microsoft Excel. Math was the highlighted subject. Each of the 3 sections- quizzes, tests, and a project were manually put into the program and assigned a different weight. Once the formula was created, the averages and final grade were immediately calculated. I was able to design a unique bar graph to show the students' progress. An attendance sheet and class roster were also easily constructed. Once I learned the basic steps of Excel, I found it quite easy to use. This is an outstanding program, in that, it can save a teacher a remarkable amount of time.
This is a list of hyperlinked educational websites. Each site is listed with its URL, subject, and information on what resources are available.
I created a mailmerge document in Microsoft Word. The Excel databook was used as a database. This feature allows for simple and quick communication with parents.
This is my PowerPoint presentation. I gathered information, that clearly demonstrates the impact that the use of an iPod would have in an in the ESL classroom.
CLASS ASSIGNMENTS
I found a K-2 grammar lesson, from Thinkfinty.org to use as my WOW site. The content partner is Read, Write, and Think and the URL is: http://pbskids.org/lions/games/gizmo.html. Students can change various parts of sentences using this interactive game. With each paw they select, they can hear the difference through the voice of a lion.
The assignment named flashcards was started during a class period.
