Chanelle LaCross Professional Development Plan 2004 Goal: Standard Four: Instructional Planning and Strategies. I shall increase my understanding of instructional planning, design long and short term plans based upon knowledge of subject matter, students, community, and curriculum goals, and shall employ a variety of developmentally appropriate tasks in order to promote critical thinking, problem solving and the performance skills of all learners. Objective: I will identify strategies to create learning experiences that make subject matter meaningful for students, address a variety of learning styles, encourage students to pursue their own interests and inquiries and help students connect their learning to personal goals. Activity: 1. Explore and review five internet sites for 'real life' math activities for my senior, Student Review Assessment (SRA) classes. 2. Evaluate websites and activities for implementation in the classroom. 3. Read relevant articles in journals (such as Educational Leadership) and select the most appropriate websites. 4. Include suitable activities in an interdisciplinary unit. Mathforum.org/mathtools Matti.usu.edu/nlvm/nav/index.html Mss.math.vanderbilt.edu/~pscrooke/toolkit.shtml |
