Intergrated Studies (Second Video)
Posted by Jennifer Moyer, 4/30/04 at 11:31:46 AM. The lessons are most effective when done w/ other teachers..pick topics
and themes w/ groip of teacher activities should be organized to
explore the essitential questions

Organization centers are the basic ides for the unit the focal idea of
the unit. Receipe book for learning all activities of the unit

You can do an interdisciplinary unit on various topics like the
reinassance, time periods, frogs and toads, solar energy, hibernation,
grapes of wrath.. it has to be topic you are interested in, something
you are willing to spend time on the topic

It should be a sensible liunk between units and disciplines.must help
achieve desired student outcomes.  must reach students
needs..reasonable amount of time (2-6 weeks is a common time
period), materials needed for the unit are available to both the
students and the teacher

Intergration of the curriculum makes school more effective

Utilize the students to organize the unit.teachers brainstorm individually before they become a group

Essential questions ~ questions that tie the unit together.examining
the unit you can have the kids make focus questions because they need
to make connects with the unit and need to meet the needs of the
students so they should be thoroughly thought out
has to meet certain criteria.every student should understand the
question, should be a specific qctivity, and organizing question 2-5
questions.generate enough possibilities that it becomes a distinct
section. Avoid reptition..highlights conceptual priorities explain the
rational of the sequence, should be able to describe what you are doing before you do it. Needs to be posted by all participating teachers the connect a range of disciplines

An activity design are predicated between 3 fundamental choices.3
parts of simple equation.thinking process, content, outcomes (tangible
evidence, product) assisting students consuiming information or
producing it. Producing activities has no rights answers, jus students
opinions..consuming activities are expected to have a certain result.

Consuming knowledge with the thinking process is linked to blooms
taxonomy.powerful thoughts come from careful planning..
