I'm Jen and I'm a 5th yr at FDU.  I'm in the Quest program for education with a major of English/Writing. I'm not sure what grade level i would like to teach yet though.  This website is basically showing my work progressing as my college career continues.

Field Experience II Task III

Technology is becoming a really big part of our every day life.   We use it for just about everything.  I know that today alone I have used it for communicating with a friend who goes to school in Arizona, type up papers, look up information, check the weather, and even make an appointment that I need.  Technology is all around us.  It is in the schools, in our homes, in stores, office buildings, the streets; everywhere you turn you will see some form of technology being used.

With the technology available to me I was able to look at some websites that was in the book "New Media Literacy Handbook."  Even though some of the links did not work, the ones that did showed me more that is out there.  The web site that I liked the most was: www.hss.cmu.edu.  It is the humanities and social sciences department of Carnegie Mellon University.  It was descriptive on what the department was about and it even had many other parts of the site.  The site told us what other departments there are there, the curriculum that is offered (which also has a description of what you are needed to take), and also social services (which talks about scholarships and so on).

This website gives a lot of information about the department as well as the school itself.  I think it is good to go into a lot of detail or there might be something you miss.  That one minor thing you could miss might be that missing piece of the puzzle that you will never know was missing.  All of the websites would be a great help to learn more about these certain departments and subjects.
