Educational Philosophy

As a  teacher, I draw on my own experiences as a learner to give context to the materials I study in my coursework. The perspective changes from that of the learner to that of the teacher, and the depth of understanding the relationship between teaching and learning increases. I have extracted from my introductory studies some ideas, which I consider central to moving forward into my teaching career; self-expression/self-knowledge; compassion and civility; and worldview. They  form a basis for my future career as a teacher and a supervisor.

First, the subject must be a passion for the teacher, and the teacher should overcome his or her limitations and fears to bring students together around a subject. Second, both teachers and students must have the abilities of self-expression and self-knowledge. This requires that people practice human relations and address problems; the space where learning occurs must be hospitable and welcoming. The second idea begs the question of my third: how do you teach or learn compassion and civility? Talking and listening, cooperative learning, and respecting diversity are important in that discussion.

Technology opens the door to place that your students would almost neversee. Technology allows your students to experience and partake inactivities and forums. Staying up to date with the evolution of technology as a teacher will enable to reach a vast array of student with different learning stlyes. Finally, seeing all these in the larger context and constructing a worldview are the major components of my last idea. Having athe use of technology in your classromm environemnt. This is a perspective that goes beyond  one's own previous education, which is key to actualizing the other essentials of teaching and learning.
