Newsletter-
There are multiple ways I will communicate with the parents of my students in order to create strong home-school partnerships. One of the ways I will communicate with the parents of my students is through providing weekly newsletters.
Mail Merge-
I used Mail Merge to send a generic letter notifying the parents of my students of an upcoming field trip to the Liberty Science Center. This tool will be very helpful in my classroom as it will save me a lot of time! Please click on the following link to view the mail merge I created.
Writing With Symbols 2000
Writing with Symbols 2000 is a word processor that illustrates the words typed. This program has four components; The Talking Symbol Processor, The Talking Word Processor, Grids for Printing, and Grids for Writing.
The Talking Symbols Processor is the part of the program that illustrates the words typed. Simply press a key and it will show you the various symbol options for any word!

The Talking Word Processor is similar to a word processor; however, unlike a word processor, it permits you to view the symbol for any word. You may check the meaning of a word or add some symbols to a page. This program talks as letters, words or sentences are typed. Alternatively, you may choose to listen to the writing after it has been typed.
The Grids for Printing permits you to create a broad range of teaching and communication tools using grids. Time tables, worksheets, rotas, communication books and games may be created using this program.

Finally, the Grids for Writing component allows you to write using symbols or text by simply clicking a mouse or switching in a grid cell.
Writing with Symbols 2000 accommodates many multiple intelligences and learning styles such as kinesthetic and visual learners. It aids in discussing how words that look the same or sound the same are different. It also provides language support. Writing with Symbols 2000 is an excellent, interactive program for all ages!
Microsoft PowerPoint-
Microsoft PowerPoint is a great interactive tool that accommodates various intelligences and learning styles. It is one of my favorite technological tools to use in the classroom. Below are two PowerPoint presentations I created for my classroom.
The first presentation I created will be used as an Icebreaker in my classroom. This presentation includes information about me and permits my students to acquire information about each other in an intriguing manner. The second presentation I created is an interactive lesson about Word Families for a first grade classroom. This is an example of an exciting and engaging lesson for a first grade classroom.
