A Brief Biography
I am a 22 year old graduate from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison NJ. I hold BA degrees in both theatre and history, and am working towards a NJ teaching certificate for completion by December 2009.
My interests as an educator are in history, with content knowledge in multiple countries and time periods (my area of greatest strength and interest is in modern European History - 1800 to the present). I like looking at perspectives, and what better way to learn and teach empathy than through the Social Studies. I also have a strong background other areas of Social Studies including (but not limited to) Psychology, Sociology and Economics.
In addition, I come with a very strong background in Theatre. I have been involved in over 12 productions while in college (both on campus and with community theatre). Some of these plays have been history based plays such as Arthur Kopit's Indians and Wendy Wasserstein's The Heidi Chronicles, dealing with key times and issues useful to the history classroom. But in general, I come with varied credits that span from Shakespeare to modern musical theatre and from Chekhov to Pinter. As a result, I come with a plethora of acting and directing experience that I would love to tap in extracurricular theatre.
If I'm not working, I am most likely to be found playing guitar, involved in something theatre related, or just outside in general.
