Field Experience II

Task 4:

Technology Self-Assessment, Personal Reflection and Goal Setting

After completing my field experience I have learned my things about both teaching and technology. The experience I have gained in the area of technology has allowed me to have a better understanding of how technology helps the student≠s improve ability as well as the speed in which the student learns.

Once I experienced how technology is currently used in the classroom I was able to see from a teacher≠s point of view how the use of technology affects each student differently. Students seemed to be more engages as well as more motivated to work on the computer than when they had to do book work. I saw that technology was especially useful in the area of multiple intelligences, especially for those students that are visual learners. The images on the computer allow the student to remember and relate the material to that specific picture. For students that learn by listening, the use of computers allowed them to hear the sound of the words and repeat in order to allow them to remember the vocabulary word.

My field experiences allowed me explore the many ways a successful teacher uses technology in the classroom in order to help the students learn. As a future teacher I my main goal is to use of the tools available to me in order create a positive and engaging learning environment for my students. As a teacher I would follow my teacher≠s example and I would keep and updated website where my students can have access to activities that will reinforce the material taught in the classroom. I would also do my best to help in any way possible for my school to gain funding for technology.

For the future I hope to learn more about how the evolution of technology helps children learn. More specifically, I would like to learn more about web design and presentation software. I believe mastering these skills and achieving my goals will help me in becoming a successful teacher.

Addressing Student Diversity in the Technology Rich Classroom	4	During all of the seminars and my field experience I have learned how to address diversity in the classroom by identifying the students as individuals, with variety of learning styles.
Addressing Special Student Populations In the Technology Rich Classroom	5	During my field experience, I witnessed how various teachers addressed the students with special needs, using visuals, such as the computer to facilitate the learning.
Addressing Student Learning Styles in the Technology Rich Classroom<o:p></o:p>	5	In all of the Seminars, I have learned how to efficiently address learning styles by understanding the students vary in learning styles such as kinesthetic, auditory and visual learning
Addressing Issues of Equity in the Technology Rich Classroom	4	I have previous knowledge on how to address issues of equity by addressing the individual needs of the students.
Assessing Hardware Needs for Classroom	3	I am somewhat familiar with some of the hardware used in the classroom, by identifying hardware that will promote student learning and apply to each lesson.
Assessing Software Needs for Classrooms	3	I am somewhat familiar with some of the software used in the classroom, by identifying software that will promote student learning and apply to each lesson.
Instructional Applications of Class Web Pages	4	I am familiar with the criteria a web page should have to promote instructional applications.
Web Page Design	5	Seminar III I had the opportunity to become a web author, this experience has allowed me to understand and experience basic web design.
Instructional Applications of Interactive Video	1	I have very limited knowledge on interactive video my only experience, has been during my seminars.
Instructional Application of Digital Imagery	4	In Seminar III I used digital imagery effective, in order to animation and pictures on my website, and to enhance my power point presentations.
Instructional Applications of Word Processing	5	I am very proficient in Microsoft Word, Works and Excel, I have learned how to incorporate them effectively in the classroom both during my field experience and during all of the education seminars.
Instructional Applications of Spreadsheets	4	Due to the nature of my work in customer service I have increased my knowledge of Microsoft Excel. This bases has allowed to have a clear understanding on how to apply this into my classroom as form of data collection.
Instructional Application of Data Bases	3	I am somewhat familiar with the usage of databases as an effective way to store information using the software Microsoft Access.
Instructional Applications of Presentation Software	5	During my seminars I have become very proficient in using presentation software such as Microsoft PowerPoint. Using power point I have successfully created and presented lesson plans.
