Philosophy

I believe that as a teacher it is my job to provide my students with an effective learning environment. I will do this by creating a place where students can learn, interact, and have their needs met. I believe all students learn by using different learning styles that meet the needs discussed by Glasser‚s choice theory. I will incorporate these techniques in my classroom. As a teacher I also will provide my students with the knowledge and skill they need to be successful in their communities. It is my goal to provide students with activities that will make learning fun but educational at the same time. This is my Philosophy on teaching.

By creating a place where students can learn, interact and have their needs met, it will only improve the rest of their school experience. In my classroom, students will be challenged to solve problems in group activities. By doing this it will make them communicate with their fellow classmates. This will lead to the development of the communication skill, which is an important quality for a student to possess.

The seven needs discussed my Glasser are: survival, belonging, power, fun, freedom and love. These needs are important to the success of a child, in the learning environment. I will try to meet each one of my students need to insure that their basic needs are not impending their education. I will meet these needs by different activities that focus on each one of the needs. School is where many children learn the qualities that make them an important part of society. As a teacher I will enforce cooperation, communication, hard work and other qualities to influence their success in the community.

As a teacher I will not only teach the specified curriculum, but also life skills. It is important to enforce these skills in the school system. In my classroom, students will become active learners thru activities that will stimulate the brain and new learning. Also, these same activities will require communication and teamwork, two important qualities.

It is my role to prepare my students for the future, and I will do that. Every student can learn once their needs are met. I will meet the needs that need to be met, through learning. My classroom will become a positive learning environment for all students.
