Classroom Teaching Vision:

I aspire to create an atmosphere in my classroom that encourages students  to further their education and develop skills in computer and information literacy, information gathering and information organizing.  It is my goal that students should be comfortable with the concepts and application of technology, not only in order to function in today's complex and often competitive society but also to become informed, productive and capable problem solving adults.
(12/17/03)

I provide students with: (NJCCS 8.1)

    • classroom time to learn basic keyboarding skills with TYPE TO LEARN.
    • assignments that use word processing tools which progress in difficulty.
    • Internet scavenger hunts and web quests which refine Internet search skills.
    • the opportunity to explore desktop publishing with the development of personal newsletters and brochures.
    • the fundamentals of design and the production of basic multimedia projects as an aide to oral presentations.
    • practice integrating applications and manipulating multiple documents.
    • different acceptable methods for file maintence and storage.

Teacher as Leader Vision:

Qualities I consider most important in school leaders are respect for others, consistent policy enforcement, creative problem solving, good listening skills and an informed awareness of school climate.

A recently completed assessment of my personal attributes reveals natural leadership qualities in the Dynamic Supportive range.  Dynamic Supportive leaders have a good sense of humor and can appreciate the humor in most circumstances.  An easygoing, optimistic demeanor can diffuse tense or conflicted situations. Being people oriented is a plus, as is my inclination toward a sensitive and spiritual approach to problem solving.  Resolving interpersonal conflicts is seamless due to my compassionate empathy.  A keen sense of the strengths of others makes delegating responsibility and authority a must since an outgoing and friendly nature creates a tendency to spend too much time helping others that can lead to stressful situations when time is short
.

I provide other teachers with:

    • an open door policy in the computer lab for access during teacher prep periods.
    • a warm, caring, supportive atmosphere at all technogology Professional Development Institiute workshops.
    • ideas for infusing technology into their curriculum.
    • the tools to allow for differentiated instruction for their students.
    • a page on my website specifically for Teaching Professionals that provides helpful links to newsletters, current research and technology news.
