 ENTER through the Depot doors
An Interdisciplinary Thematic Unit Plan based on the CO-5 Instructional Model* which promotes the use of effective teaching through performance based learning connected to the real world.
The pillars of the CO-5 instructional model are:
-
content
-
competencies
-
connectivity
-
communication
-
collaboration
These five pillars work together to provide students with the opportunity to achieve content and process objectives; at the same time, it encourages peer collaboration and group problem solving.
Students who experience immediate real life connections to curriculum content are much more likely to internalize the material and apply it to other problems in relevant and meaningful ways.
* The CO-5 learning model was developed by Brian Chinni at The Madison Institute. Dr. Chinni is quoted as saying
"The skills that our students will need to thrive in our 21st century global economy are vastly different than those of the Industrial Age, an age for which our schools were built." (Chinni, 2001)
